2010, acrylic on canvas, 18” x 24”, $950.00 with frame, (SOLD)

This work reminded me of a Russian Contructivist piece-therefore the title. I think we artists often channel artists who have come before us. In abstraction there is a mutual vocabulary that floats about in the ether and comes to us when we are in the middle of a creative burst,

A friend of mine was the business manager for Lotte Lenya. One evening Victor had a cocktail party and asked me to sing some songs from The Threepenny Opera. I was about twenty-two at the time. Victor knew I was a great fan of Lenya and that I had memorized her songs in German. I sang and as I was finishing the curtain to Victor’s study was pulled aside and Lotte Lenya came into the room. She said “I hope my voice isn’t that scratchy.”  Needless to say I was mortified.
